Engineering notes & ordering requirements

This custom mounting flange is a custom component concept for equipment interfaces. The illustration demonstrates a possible part family; it is not a dimensioned production drawing or a stocked item.

Design and functional interfaces

Identify the mounting faces, bearing seats, sealing surfaces, datum scheme and mating components. Keep general dimensions separate from critical functional features. Specify thread standards and the condition in which dimensions are to be inspected.

Material and finishing

Candidate materials include steel / aluminum. Select the exact grade against mechanical load, corrosion exposure, temperature and surface requirements. Finishing can change dimensions at fits and threads; indicate masking and coating allowances on the drawing.

Assembly concept

The exploded and disassembled views are AI-generated concept illustrations. They explain how machined housings, shafts, bushings and fasteners can work together. They must not be used as assembly instructions or engineering approval.

What to send for a quotation

  1. STEP model and PDF drawing, including revision.
  2. Prototype quantity and expected production volume.
  3. Material grade, finish and critical tolerances.
  4. Inspection documentation, packaging and destination.

FAQs

What should I include in a machining RFQ?

Send a 3D STEP file and a dimensioned PDF drawing, material grade, quantity, surface finish, critical tolerances and delivery destination. If you only have a concept, describe the function and mating components.

Can I request a prototype before a production batch?

Yes. Identify the prototype quantity and expected repeat-order volume in your inquiry. We will review manufacturability, inspection needs and the transition to batch production before quoting.

Are the components shown available off the shelf?

The catalogue illustrates custom machining applications. Every project is reviewed against your drawing; materials, dimensions, pricing and lead time are confirmed in the quotation.

How are tolerances and inspection agreed?

Mark critical dimensions and datums on the drawing. Specify any GD&T, surface roughness, inspection report or material traceability requirements so these can be reviewed before manufacture.
